A presentation slide emphasizes appreciating daily experiences to enhance social relationships and wellbeing. It suggests keeping a gratitude journal, including establishing a routine, considering small moments, and personal reflection. (O'Connell et al., 2018, p. 2441)

Consider Starting to Keep a Gratitude Journal

For our mindfulness activity this week, I we are going to be doing a free write exercise for you to write aboiut the things you are grateful for. There is great power doing this frequently and keeping a gratitude journal.

[Whole Class Activity] Does anybody keep a gratitude journal? Tell about it?

Actively appreciating the experiences we engage with in our daily lives appears to be a potent way for improving the quality of our social relationships, producing sustained improvements in psychological wellbeing and overall happiness.

Consider Starting to Keep a Gratitude Journal

  • Establish it as a routine (a day, time, place all help)
  • Consider small moments (I think the small things are sometimes the biggest, me and sunshine)
  • Personally reflect (be introspective, don’t just list what you are grateful for… why)
Slide 5
Text instructs to write about gratitude, set on a plain white background with the header '5-Minute Gratitude Free Write.'

5-Minute Gratitude Free Write

Spend the next five minutes just writing as much as you can about things you are grateful for.

[Whole Class Activity] Set a time and let write.
