Student Led Discussions (SLED)

Topic this week is Practicum Supervision/Supervision Agendas

[Whole Class Activity] Give selected students opportunity to facilitate presentation/discussion regarding topic.

Slide 4
A slide displays two text sections. The left section cites a study on appreciating experiences for social relationships and well-being. The right section suggests starting a gratitude journal with three tips: establish, consider small moments, and reflect.

Consider Starting to Keep a Gratitude Journal

For our mindfulness activity this week, we are going to do a free-write exercise for you to write about the things you are grateful for. There is great power in doing this frequently and keeping a gratitude journal.

[Whole Class Activity] Does anybody keep a gratitude journal? Tell about it?

Actively appreciating the experiences we engage with in our daily lives appears to be a potent way for improving the quality of our social relationships, producing sustained improvements in psychological well-being and overall happiness.

Consider Starting to Keep a Gratitude Journal

  • Establish it as a routine (a day, time, place, all help)
  • Consider small moments (I think the small things are sometimes the biggest, me and sunshine)
  • Personally reflect (be introspective, don’t just list what you are grateful for… why)

5-Minute Gratitude Free Write

Spend the next five minutes just writing as much as you can about things you are grateful for.

[Whole Class Activity] Set a time, and let’s write.
